Engineering Skills Shortage

At the KZN Water Summit, held in Durban on the 20 and 21st September, it was again stressed that South Africa and in particular the local municipalities are desperately in need of technical staff, in particular - civil engineers.

The matter was reported in the Mercury:

Hopefully this will mean an increased appreciation of engineers and possibly salary increases to attract engineers to the public sector. I pray that South Africa will manage to train enough engineers, prevent the the brain drain and encourage SA engineers back from overseas so that we don't have import engineers from Cuba and India.
