It's official.....

I start work overseas in March.

For those of you who haven't heard the rumours, I have been offered a job in the UK. The job is with a consulting company called Atkins and the post is in Rivers and Coastal Section, dealing mainly with flood related studies and flood protection design and construction. Atkins seems like a really cool place to work, although I'm sure the work won't be too easy. They are the biggest engineering consulting firm in the UK and eighth biggest in Europe, so hopefully there will be lots of interesting projects to work on and opportunities to move to other sections and areas.

Peterborough seems like a nice enough place, although it is going to be an adjustment living in such a small town. The population is only about 156 000, which is minute compared to Durban's 3 million, but I guess it is a lot bigger than a construction site/hospital in the middle of nowhere and I have friends who survive there. It has a really cool Middle Ages Cathedral and a Bronze Age archaelogical site where they discovered the oldest wheel in the UK.... Cool huh!!
