Back home in SA, today is a national Public holiday - Human Rights Day. The date for Human Rights Day, was chosen to commemorate the Sharpeville Massacre which occured on 21 March 1960, when police fired on a crowd of protestors demonstrating against the Pass Laws.

Today South Africa has one of the most liberal constitutions in the world, as well as an extensive Bill of Human Rights, and 21 March has been selected as a day to remember these revolutionary pieces of legislation.
