Water for Africa

A friend of mine recently worked on the design and construction of Maguga dam and the subsequent downstream weirs and hydropower works. THe dam wall was completed in 2002, and at the end of amarch it spilled for the first time. Check out these beautiful pics...



An indication of the amount of rain southern Africa has had is clear based on the fact that the dam was only 8% full in January! The dam has a capacity of 330 million m3!!!!!
Don't you just love the water spilling over the labyrinth spillway!
