Sunny skies... updated (see map at bottom)

The weather in the UK is still amazingly hot and humid, and I've been making the most of every minute of sunshine.

Friday lunchtime at work, a group of us from the office hit the pub, to soak up the sun in the beer garden like lazy lizards!

After lunch I was lucky enough to be asked by Chantelle to accompany her on a site visit to take some measurements in a local meadow. We had to stop off at my house first so I could change out for my cream trousers and high heels, pick up some water bottles, and smother ourselves with sunblock!

Then it was off to the fields where we climbed around a sluice gate structure taking measurements, and Chantelle waded in the drain checking the depth. It was a little dirty, but it was a great way to spend an afternoon out of the office!!
After work, Rosie, Fanny and I decided to cycle to Charters (a local pub) for a drink in the sunny beer garden. Charters is on a boat moored on the river Nene, and the beer garden is in the area adjacent to the river. We had adrink at Fanny's place first so by the time we arrived it was starting to get dark (21h30). We sat outside for a bit and then moved into the boat.

Dave came up from London with his bike on the train, and met us at Charters just before we cycled home again. He was a little late because he found that cycling from Waterloo to Kings Cross station (bikes aren't allowed on the tubes) is not quite as easy as it sounds!!!

The next morning Dave and I bought day bus passes and hit the town to shop for a bed for me. We visited 2 bed shops, and after much deliberation, I chose the more expensive better quality bed. I've probably wasted my money, but hey.. It's only money!

Next we began the search for bed linen, duvet, etc... But we didn't get far before we were exhausted and feeling very hungry... In addition, the first England game of the football (soccer) World Cup was about to begin! Three quarters of Peterborough were dressed in red and white (or England shirts) ad the cars were flying St George's Cross flags. Even David had a supporters shirt on (Rosie banned him from the house)!!! so as not to miss the game, we hopped on another bus and met up with Maatt, Paul and Rich who were bbq'ing at Matt's house. They had put the TV in the garden so they didn't have to miss a second of the game while enjoying the sun, and had decorated the area accordingly!!

We had a great afternoon, watching the game, drinking Paul's homemade fruit punch, eating loads of yummy bbq and playing boules in Matt's back garden. Thanks guys!!

Then it was back home on the bus, and we collapsed in front of the tv. Watched a couple of moves with Rosie (as usual Deanne fell asleep) and then went to bed.

Sunday the sun shone yet again, and after doing the washing (it was dry in under 2 hours!!) and a little bit of tanning in the garden, Dave and I packed a picnic lunch and headed out to Ferry Meadows on our bikes. By the time we left, the day was cooling slightly, and it was a lovely ride. Ferry Meadows was pretty too, and we sat on the far side of the lake (away from all the people) to eat out lunch. By the end of the day Dave says we had cycled 15km. I know this is not far to most people, but it is a new record for me!!!! and our total riding time was only just over 1hour. I was super impressed with myself!!
